Robert Hovenier appointed to lead our Mauritius office

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Robert Hovenier as Managing Director of our Mauritius office. He takes over from Richard Arlove, who has announced his decision to retire.

Robert joins us from Mauritius International Trust Company where he was CEO. He has more than 20 years’ experience dealing with private equity and professional investors as well as entrepreneurs and their families in developing and implementing their strategies. Robert has a proven track record in establishing operational excellence as well as delivering business growth.

Farah Ballands, our Group CEO said “We would like to thank Richard for his contribution, commitment, and drive which has made Ocorian in Mauritius a sound business and a significant part of the group and we wish him well in his retirement.” 

Richard Arlove said “It has been an honour and a pleasure to lead Ocorian in Mauritius. In 2018 when ABAX was acquired by Ocorian I stated my desire to retire when the business had a solid platform for the future. I know that the time is right now as there are exciting plans for growth and Robert is extremely well placed to take the business to the next level.”

Farah continued “Mauritius is and will continue to be a key location for us with strong capabilities and forward potential. As a result of the merger of Ocorian and Estera earlier this year, we are building a unified business underpinned with common ways of working, shared values and a resolute focus on providing exceptional client service. I am looking forward to working with Robert and implementing our strategic plan to deliver growth in the markets we service”.

Ocorian is a sizeable employer in Mauritius and making sure we develop, retain and hire people with the skills and experience needed to help us in this mission will be a key focus for me.
