Kareem Robinson

Kareem is an experienced offshore financial services professional with over 20 years of technical and managerial experience in structured and asset finance, trust and company administration, alternative investments and regulatory compliance and oversight.

At Ocorian Trust (Cayman) Limited, Kareem oversees the Cayman Islands structured finance team to ensure service excellence, accelerate growth, and find proactive solutions to help clients maximise business and investment performance.

Prior to joining Ocorian, Kareem worked for Waystone, where he provided independent director services to a wide range of alternative investment vehicles such as hedge, private equity, private credit and real estate funds with varying strategies and structures.   

Previously, Kareem held the position of Deputy Head of the Securities Supervision Division at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), with direct responsibility and oversight of both the off-site and on-site monitoring processes, which included the licensing and supervision of Securities Investment Business licensees and the registration of Registered Persons under the Securities Investment Business Act. At CIMA, Kareem was also involved in several key regulatory initiatives and possesses a lucid understanding of the Cayman Islands regulatory framework and AML/CFT regime.  

Throughout his career, Kareem has held senior capital market roles at various global corporate and fiduciary firms where he acquired extensive practical experience managing - throughout the life of the transaction - complex portfolios of special purpose vehicles and corporate trust structures (on and off balance sheet), also serving as director and relationship manager. 

As a result, Kareem is often sought out by those in the financial services industry for his expertise and counsel and have co-authored articles for publication, in addition to participating in panels discussions at regulatory and capital markets conferences and roundtables.
