Haydon joined Newgate in February 2015 as Director of Regulatory Transactions, responsible for dealing with applications to the FCA for firm's seeking direct authorisation, variation of permissions and changes in control for authorised firms and individual approval applications for the holders of Senior Management Functions (SMFs). Prior to joining Newgate he spent five years at a large UK compliance consultancy.

His experience includes over a decade as a Supervisor at the FCA (FSA at the time) where he led reviews of corporate authorisation applications for a wide range of market sectors, mainly asset managers, corporate finance advisors and brokerage firms. As an experienced member of the authorisations team, he was responsible for presenting cases to the Regulatory Transactions and Regulatory Decisions Committees for decision.

During his time at the Regulator, Haydon completed a year long secondment to the Central Waivers team to assist with applications for various waivers of FCA rules, particularly those relating to the training and competence and group consolidation rules. Prior to the FCA he spent over 4 years at the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Haydon holds the Investment Management Certificate, the Full Financial Planning Certificate and has passed the Association of Chartered Insurance Institute exams
