Mauritius Budget 2022/23 - Implications for the Global Business Sector

The Minister of Finance and Economic Development presented his budget speech for the year 2022/2023 on 7 June 2022. In the aftermath of the Covid 19 pandemic and the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia the Minister’s theme for the budget speech was ‘With the People, for the People’.

Key sentiments of the budget include: 

  • Reshaping the economy through massive investment in the people of Mauritius including stabilising food security and boosting green power
  • Empowering citizens through further social measures such as an income allowance for certain individuals.
  • The Financial Services Commission revamping its framework to strengthen the sector on the island and allow businesses to easily setup in Mauritius
