Job Description
Purpose of the Job
The Head of Depositary is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance and development of Ocorian’s Luxembourg depositary function. The role ensures the delivery of a high‑quality, compliant and client‑focused depositary service, acting as the principal point of contact for clients, regulators and internal stakeholders. With accountability for regulatory oversight, risk escalation and operational excellence, the Head of Depositary drives the growth of the depositary business, supports new business initiatives and promotes consistent group-wide standards, while fostering a strong control environment and developing a high‑performing team aligned with Ocorian’s values.
Depending on the profile and regulatory approval, the position may be combined with an authorised manager (Conducting Officer) role for the Depositary function, with corresponding responsibility for regulatory oversight and engagement with the CSSF.
Main Responsibilities
Leadership, Governance & Regulation
- Act as the primary senior contact for all Luxembourg depositary relationships, including clients, regulators and internal stakeholders.
- Assume overall responsibility for the governance, oversight and regulatory compliance of the Luxembourg depositary function in line with CSSF requirements.
- Serve as the key point of escalation for depositary‑related risks, breaches or issues, ensuring timely reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors where appropriate.
- Act as the principal adviser to management on all depositary‑related matters.
Client Service & Business Development
- Consolidate and grow the existing depositary client base, taking a leading role in the strategic development and positioning of Ocorian’s depositary offering in Luxembourg.
- Support new business initiatives by assisting with client proposals, fee estimates, presentations and responses to due diligence requests.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships, ensuring delivery of a consistently high‑quality and client‑focused depositary service.
Operational Oversight & Systems
- Oversee the delivery of first‑class depositary administration services, ensuring appropriate controls, processes and service standards are maintained.
- Lead the ongoing review, enhancement and implementation of depositary procedures, policies and checklists, ensuring they remain current and aligned with regulatory and best‑practice expectations.
- Drive the development and optimisation of depositary systems and tools, liaising with other jurisdictions to promote a consistent, scalable, group‑wide approach.
People Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor and develop the depositary team, providing clear direction, training, coaching and performance oversight.
- Foster a strong risk and control culture, ensuring junior team members are appropriately trained and supported in their regulatory responsibilities.
Thought Leadership & Market Presence
- Contribute to Ocorian’s thought leadership by participating in industry panels and representing the firm at conferences and industry forums.
- Monitor market, regulatory and industry developments relevant to depositary services and assess their impact on the business.

Qualifications Required
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- A relevant professional qualification to Professional Level (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Significant experience within the alternative investment fund sector, with exposure to real assets such as Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Private Debt
- Proven ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements pragmatically within an operational context.
- Experience engaging with regulators and senior stakeholders on governance and control matters.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Pragmatic, approachable and independent; able to apply tenacity where necessary.
- Pragmatic, credible and independent professional with the confidence to challenge where necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels both internally and externally.
- Strong judgement, analytical capability and attention to detail, with the ability to identify, assess and escalate risks appropriately.
- Calm and resilient under pressure, able to prioritise effectively and manage competing deadlines.
- Collaborative team leader who promotes accountability, development and high performance
- Fluent English, any other language is considered an advantage.
