Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
We are seeking an experienced compliance operations leader to drive the growth, development, and delivery of Ocorian's regulatory and compliance consultancy services across key jurisdictions. This role will play a critical part in executing our commercial strategy, expanding our client portfolio, and enhancing our technology-enabled compliance solutions.
The successful candidate will lead the evolution of our compliance consulting proposition, driving sustainable revenue growth through both retained advisory services for smaller asset management firms and outsourced compliance operating models for larger clients. Working within a matrixed structure, including direct leadership of specialist teams and oversight of our Mauritius-based shared services function, they will ensure scalable, high-quality, and commercially focused service delivery.
A key responsibility will be the ongoing development of Ocorian's compliance products and service catalogue, ensuring alignment with business line objectives, client needs, regulatory developments, and the wider Group growth strategy. The role will champion operational excellence, innovation, and technology adoption, delivering client-centric solutions that strengthen Ocorian's position as a leading provider of regulatory and compliance services.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Commercial Growth & Business Development
- Lead and promote Ocorian's Compliance Operations proposition across key jurisdictions and target markets.
- Own the Compliance Operations retainer revenue target, driving sustainable growth through proactive pipeline development, conversion, and client retention.
- Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for Compliance Operations services, aligned with business line objectives and the wider Group growth agenda.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, intermediaries, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
- Identify and drive opportunities for cross-selling and expanding services across Ocorian's client base.
Service Delivery & Operational Excellence
- Oversee the delivery of Compliance Operations services, ensuring a consistent, high-quality client experience across all jurisdictions.
- Maintain oversight of global prescribed roles services, including MLRO, Deputy MLRO, and Chief Compliance Officer appointments, ensuring consistent standards, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex client, regulatory, and operational matters.
- Drive operational efficiency, scalability, and utilisation across the Compliance Operations fee-earner population.
Leadership & People Management
- Provide leadership and direction to multi-jurisdictional teams across London, Guernsey, Luxembourg, and Mauritius.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture that supports professional development, accountability, and client excellence.
- Lead, mentor, and develop managers and team members to build capability and succession strength across the function.
- Work effectively within a matrix structure to ensure alignment across business lines, shared services teams, and specialist functions.
Product Development & Innovation
- Shape and evolve the Compliance Operations service catalogue to meet changing client, regulatory, and market requirements.
- Champion the development, adoption, and effective use of compliance technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and client outcomes.
- Stay abreast of developments in regulatory technology (RegTech), financial technology (FinTech), and artificial intelligence to strengthen Ocorian's competitive proposition.
- Support the continuous improvement of processes, systems, and service delivery models to ensure market-leading client solutions.
Qualifications Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk management and governance frameworks within the financial services sector.
- Proven experience delivering compliance consulting, regulatory advisory or outsourced compliance services to regulated entities.
- Demonstrable success in growing client relationships, generating revenue and achieving commercial targets.
- Strong business development experience in the UK and at least one other key market (Hong Kong, Singapore, Channel Islands, US or UAE).
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing, multi-jurisdictional teams within a matrixed environment.
- Experience managing operational delivery, utilisation and service quality across client-facing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence clients, regulators and senior leaders.
- Strong client-centric mindset, focused on delivering practical solutions and long-term value.
