Job Description

Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Head of Payroll, the Senior Payroll Advisor will be responsible for the range of payroll related activities in the allocated global jurisdictions where Ocorian operates.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure pre-payroll tasks are completed, payrolls are run and post processing tasks finalised, in a timely, accurate and compliant manner for the allocated jurisdictions
  • Work with outsourced payroll service providers and other vendors/ organisations to deliver a timely, accurate and compliant payroll service
  • Act as the reviewer for selected payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely approval before submission
  • Provide support in supervising payroll team members, helping with mentoring, coaching, and training where required
  • Prepare and submit monthly and annual declarations to authorities
  • Resolve payroll queries promptly and accurately within the agreed deadlines  
  • Lead knowledge‑sharing sessions and contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and documentation
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex payroll queries, guiding staff through resolution
  • Ensure that all internal and external audit requirements are met and provide information to auditors as required
  • Support succession planning by developing team capacity and identifying training needs

Qualifications Required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience
  • Strong experience in UK payroll; International payroll exposure advantageous
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, train, and develop team members
  • Proficiency in payroll software and technology
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (e.g. PivotTables, formulas such as vlookup)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high accuracy in data processing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex payroll information to a variety of stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with a systematic approach to problem solving
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations
