Job Description

Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Head of Payroll, the Payroll Advisor will be responsible for the range of payroll related activities in the allocated global jurisdictions where Ocorian operates.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist with in-house payroll processing in compliance with Mauritian regulations (NPF, PRGF, PAYE, etc)
  • Work with outsourced payroll service providers and other vendors/ organisations to deliver a timely, accurate and compliant payroll service
  • Resolve payroll queries promptly and accurately within the agreed deadlines  
  • Prepare and submit monthly and annual declarations to authorities
  • Contribute to the definition and continuous improvement and update of payroll processes and documentation  
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as HR and Finance, to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing
  • Day to day administration of benefits programs including health insurance and pension plans, supporting employees and liaising with vendors/ brokers as required.
  • Support, as required, any in house payroll activities.
  • Ensure that all internal and external audit requirements are met and provide information to auditors as required

Qualifications Required

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience of payroll processing experience
  • Experience in house Mauritius payroll advantageous
  • Experience with Dubai and/or International payrolls advantageous
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as Sicorax is advantageous
  • Highly numerate with a systematic approach to problem solving
  • High accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Sense of urgency, willingness to own tasks and the resilience to work through issues to conclusion, maintaining energy and motivation
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations
  • At least intermediate Excel proficiency (e.g. PivotTables, formulas such as vlookup). Advanced Excel proficiency is advantageous

MAURiTIUS ONLY

  • During peak periods of the payroll cycle, candidate needs to be able to work later shift pattern to accommodate time differences with jurisdictions supported (e.g. finish at 8 or 9pm).
  • Due to the need to work later shift during peak payroll periods, this role is more suited to those residing in the regions of Moka, Plaine Wilhems and Port Louis (or that have own means of transportation).
