Background and requirements
To fulfil Ocorian’s ambition of doubling in size in the next 3-4 years through organic growth and acquisitions, the business has transformed into a globally aligned organisation with three major components: Service-Lines, Global Operations/Tech/Transformation, and global Support Functions.
The last five years has brought about a period of significant change in the regulatory reporting space globally, particularly for offshore jurisdictions. It is now nine years since the Common Reporting Standards were first implemented however there continues to be tightening of restrictions with increased reporting requirements in relation to self-certification documentation, nil reporting and notifying local tax authorities about undocumented accounts. In addition to the administrative burden, the increase in financial penalties for incorrect or missing reporting places the onus on Financial Institutions to have robust processes and resources in place to meet the regulations.
The introduction of the Economic Substance legislation to many offshore jurisdictions in 2019 with the widening of the law to include Limited Partnerships and self-managed funds in 2021 has required the likes of Ocorian to review all of their entities under management and ensure they are meeting the local requirements, requiring further significant administrative input.
Additional legislation surrounding beneficial ownership, data protection and the increased information now required for many annual returns has resulted in the requirement for dedicated staff to ensure deadlines are met and that we have everything to adhere to the various regulations, over and above the usual administration work undertaken.
Ocorian has built a team of regulatory reporting specialists who will work closely together with the Service Lines and other group stakeholders creating ONE Ocorian. They will bring the regulatory reporting and disclosure functions for all offices under one team located in a number of jurisdictions to help relieve the increasing administrative burden on offices who may not have the capacity or specialist knowledge to efficiently complete these returns. These are likely to include obligations such as FATCA/CRS, Economic Substance, Annex IV reporting, ICARA as well as other local reporting requirements.
The Associate Director - Regulatory Reporting and Disclosures function (“AD - RRD”) is responsible for helping to deliver outstanding services across the business, support the global business to meet the strategic aims of driving profitable growth, delivering an outstanding level of service to our customers, whilst ensuring pro-active adherence to group wide risk, regulatory and statutory standards.
