Head of Business Applications - IT

Purpose of the Job:
Best in class software services are critical to Ocorian in support of local, regional and global initiatives that are furthering back-office speed/cost/accuracy together with enabling innovative client facing products.

The Head of Business Applications will work closely with technology colleagues to provide software package implementation and support on a variety of platforms. The aim is to provide a seamless service from application through design, development, testing, release and life-cycle support and maintenance. They will ensure  our business applications delight our customers (internal and external) and provide them with better outcomes.

Main responsibilities:

Overall this role will be responsible for the delivery and overall success of business applications selection, implementation and support including:

  • Managing teams responsible for implementation, configuration and support (second/third line) of the main business applications: NavOne, iManage, eFront, Bank Clarity
  • Liaising with Business Leaders and clients to understand their business operations and needs for digital products and services.
  • Providing life-cycle management of existing products and ensuring they continue to provide state of the art functionality.
  • Software vendor management including both technical and development software vendors.  Negotiation of licensing and subscriptions.
  • Developing relationships with third parties that can help accelerate development with specialist skills or expertise.
  • Working closely with IT colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of business applications in support of the Digital Vision and Ocorian’s Strategy.
  • Working with infrastructure and security teams to ensure that solutions are built robustly and securely
  • Management of the Business Applications budget

To qualify for the role:

The ideal candidate should be an acknowledged leader in the field with:

  • Management of an off-shore support team and of working as part of a global team
  • The ability to simplify the complex technical issues and tailor key messages for the relevant stakeholder group
  • IT experience at a management level within an international or global business
  • Business acumen with a strategic ability
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • An analytical mind set with great problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and can demonstrate an ability to resolve resource and project conflicts
  • Extensive 3rd party contractual and negotiating experience
  • A team player
  • Educated to degree level, ideally with an appropriate professional qualification
