Ocorian awarded Caring Employer of the Year
Ocorian awarded Caring Employer of the Year
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the Caring Employer of the Year award at the Channel Islands 2019 Leaders in Wellbeing Awards.
A staggering 13.5 million working days are lost each year in Britain through work related stress, and the awards recognise those employers aiming to promote health, happiness and inspiration within their workplace. A high level of employee wellbeing has shown to lead to lower absence levels; attraction and retention of talented people; greater employee engagement and productivity; and healthier profits.
At Ocorian, we know that our employees are our most valuable asset, providing the backbone for both our culture and success. As a result, ensuring they are happy, motivated and committed is paramount. This has led us to engender a number of initiatives that tap into the energetic and progressive mentalities our employees so often exhibit.
Ranging from our online suggestion box and online learning platform, to our numerous health and wellbeing iniatives and happiness index surveys, we are committed to prioritising our employees.
In total, more than 70 nominations were received for the awards, with almost 30 businesses, groups or individuals from Jersey and Guernsey shortlisted in 10 categories.
Commenting on the awards success, Global HR Director, Richard Summerfield said: "This is a great achievement for both the Channel Islands team and Ocorian as a whole. We work very hard to make sure our employees are happy and comfortable in their workplace across all of the jurisdictions in which we operate. We care greatly about the views and opinions of our employees, and have put many successful initiatives in place to give them the opportunity to 'be heard'. The engagement and inclusion of our people is paramount and the team should feel really proud for getting the recognition they deserve."
